FCS Extension programs aim to improve the quality of individual and family life through education, research, and outreach.

What is Family & Consumer Sciences (FCS)?

FCS stands for Family and Consumer Sciences Extension. FCS programming focus on building assets of individuals and families to address problems faced across the lifespan. Family and Consumer Sciences Extension emphasizes well-being with a focus on human development, parenting, resource management, nutrition, health and leadership development.

At the community level, FCS Extension prepares individuals for community and economic development and activity. Professionals in Family and Consumer Sciences Extension provide the tools to help individuals and families to develop resources for strengthening families and building community for an ever changing society.

Cooking Through the Calendar

Frankfort Chess Masters

Do you like to play chess and know how the pieces move?

Adolescents and adults are welcome to join our group to play chess, improve your skills, and meet new players. Chess sets and clocks will be available. 

Meet the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month. 6:00-8:00pm.

Annual member dues: $10

Farm City Field Day

Save the Date! Farm City Field Day will be July 11, 2024. Tickets are available at all Franklin County Farm Bureau locations or the Franklin County Extension Office. This event is free to the public. 

Franklin County Fair 2024

Lakeview Park

Entries will be registered on Monday, July 15, 5-7:00 pm and Tuesday, July 16,
9 am-12 noon at the Farm Bureau Pavilion in Lakeview Park. (Note: ALL perishable
entries should be entered Tuesday morning to ensure the integrity of exhibits for judging.)
If entering more than 10 items, please arrive at least ONE HOUR before entry time closes.
Exhibitors will be assigned a unique number and ticket at registration for their entries
and will then check their entries into division tables in the pavilion for public display.

Dining With Diabetes: Air Fryer Edition

Join us for an overview of Dining with Diabetes and air fryer education, and enjoy a demonstration of a healthy air fryer recipe.
One air fryer will be given away at each session.
